Cleaning up the Blog archive

We were looking at our storage recently and realized with the number of photos we put up on the blog, we are using up quite a chunk of resources! Don’t worry, we won’t post less, but we are going to start pulling down some of the oldest posts, keeping about the last year’s worth.

  1. Storage per se isn’t the issue – we actually store the images on our host (not WordPress). We simply want to keep a handle on the amount of material available here.

  2. As a quick back-of-the-envelope guesstimation, I figure you’re using 10-30 megabytes of storage for the photos. A quick google shows that WordPress offers 3000 megabytes of free upload space for their blogs. I’m missing something here. Maybe you’re uploading full-sized photos, and then having the blog downsize them to thumbs for display? That would eat up 3000 megabytes very quickly.

Or is there something else I’m overlooking?
